Vital to the communication links between systems, communication platforms often orbit the Aethergates at a close distance. From there they receive traffic from all over the local system using tight-band burst messages. This data is then downloaded toa set of Aether capsules which are fired into the nearby Aethergate to arrive at a corresponding facility in the destination system. The destination facility retrieves the capsule, downloads the data and then tight-beam bursts it toward the intended recipient.
These platforms are very important to keep communication flowing between the systems and therefore become priority targets for forces engaged in a battle. This station model can be used as a target for games of Interceptor and Leviathan to form the basis of scenarios revolving around protecting or destroying a high value target.
This model measures 5 3/8 inches long x 5 inches wide by 3 3/4 inches high. It comes unpainted and requires assembly. See this link for assembly instructions.
